Significance of Panch Badri Temples

Badrinath Temple

Badrinath Temple is the most prominent among the Panch Badri temples and one of the Char Dham pilgrimage sites of India. Located at an altitude of approximately 3,133 meters on the banks of the Alaknanda River, the temple is dedicated to Lord Vishnu in the form of Badrinarayan.

Yog Dhyan Badri

Situated at Pandukeshwar between Joshimath and Badrinath, Yog Dhyan Badri is believed to be the meditation site of King Pandu, father of the Pandavas. The temple represents Lord Vishnu in a meditative posture.

Bhavishya Badri

Bhavishya Badri is located near the village of Subhain in the Joshimath region. According to ancient beliefs, when Badrinath becomes inaccessible in the future, worship of Lord Vishnu will continue at Bhavishya Badri.

Vriddha Badri

Located in Animath near Joshimath, Vriddha Badri represents the ancient or elderly form of Lord Vishnu. It is believed that sage Narada worshipped Lord Vishnu at this sacred site.

Adi Badri

Adi Badri consists of a group of ancient temples near Karnaprayag. These temples are believed to have been established by Adi Shankaracharya to promote the worship of Lord Vishnu in the Himalayan region.
